You wouldn't believe they are safety toe, October 27, 2007 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Bates Men's 5 Inches Ultra Lites Comp Toe Work Boot (Apparel) I have a pair for work and a pair for doing chores. They are lightweight and I have no problem chasing suspects in them. The side zipper gives a snug fit. The shoes also clean up really nice for inspection. The fact that it is safety toe with a fiberglass shank and it feels like a high top sneaker. Worth the money for the quality.

These are that boot. They are just tall enough and just heavy enough to make me feel confident on the bike, but they are also comfortable enough to wear all day. None of my previous boots can be walked in for more than a half a mile or so before they become uncomfortable, they are motorcycle boots, and God help you if you need to walk. These bates boots on the other hand (or maybe foot in this case) go as far as I can.

The grip managed to keep me securely footed on wet grass at a 40-degree incline.
The safety toe has been run over by two cars and has been impacted by a scalpel, no noticeable damage other than scuffing and a laceration.
